art: “Ladybug + Raj”

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Title: “Ladybug + Raj”
Medium: Pencil, Photoshop CS2
Notes: Episode 3, Season 3 of The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon commented on Raj’s fear of women and insects, concluding, “Ladybugs must render you catatonic.” And then I saw an icon on LJ that said, “I ship Raj/Ladybug,” and I thought, I must draw this.

This looks kind of rough, compared to my other recent pieces…because it is. I photographed the pencils and colored them really quick.

Sky High . Warren Peace/Layla Williams . pencil/Photoshop CS2

[original pencils]

This is yet another result of art prompt I requested. I drew this Friday night and colored it Saturday afternoon. I really like how this turned out with the textures and the coloring in Warren’s tattoo. I think I like this style of just putting on flat colors and leaving my pencil lines to carry most of the detail and shading.

Layla’s dress design is inspired by something I saw on ModCloth.com that I contemplated wearing to my sister’s wedding. The star/sky texture is from dastardly_icons.

art: “Yours Tastes Better”

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I recently caught up on the show Leverage, and it’s awesome. I I like it a lot anyway, and I’ve gotten my family into the show as well.

So, I did some fan art featuring my two favorite characters, Alec Hardison (hacker) and Parker (thief). The pencils were done this past weekend and I have been working on the colors the last few days. I remembered this week’s Illustration Friday theme—pattern—and just so happened to make this work for it.

Notes: Drawn in pencil and then colored in Photoshop CS2.

The background pattern is by mangion.

Hardison’s shirt design is by Jay Hillyer and can be found HERE @ Chop Shop .
