flower
October 25, 2008 . Pensacola, FL

The photo shoot last weekend went really well. I still get nervous when I’m shooting things for hire (being utterly humbled over the fact that the client is, in essence, entrusting me with their memories), then I realize that not every single frame is going to be the most awesome thing evah. I should have remembered that from photography classes in college. We’d have to shoot one 36 exposure roll of film for every print that we turned in. So, if 3 prints were due for the assignment, we had to shoot 3 rolls of film. Maybe more.

With that in mind, getting 15 decent shots out of about 100 isn’t bad.

She has plans

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I signed up for NaNoWriMo. Insane, I know, but I hope it will motivate me to finally get my original story down. Fifty-thousand words in 30 days. I’ll be on vacation for the last week of the November and into the first week of December, visiting friends in Canada, so it’s definitely going to be a crunch.

I’m thinking of picking up some freelance/commissions before I go to fund my travels, so, stay tuned.

I’ll be out of town this weekend as well, attending a baby shower and doing my first maternity photo shoot. I hope the weather holds up. It rained all day yesterday, and it’s been rather dreary today as well. Hopefully Sunday will be, well, sunny.

some things around me

Well, now that all that WordPress nonsense is, for the most part, sorted out, I can finally get on with the post I had originally planned to make last night.

I got a new shirt from Old Navy.

My first slice of pumpkin loaf of the season. Yumm.

Elephants…teeth sinking into heart

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

“Elephants” by Rachael Yamagata

If the elephants have past lives
Yet are destined to always remember,
It’s no wonder how they scream
Like you and I, they must have some temper

I don’t know how she expects me to get through the rest of the album when I love the song on the first track so much that I just want to put it on repeat.
